The Highland of Lessinia
1000-1700 mtThe wide highland of the Lessini mountains extends for kilometres between the Adige Valley and the plain of Vicenza and Verona, in the area of the Prealps, at a height of 1000-1700 metres a.s.l. It is an interesting environment from both a cultural-historical and a natural point of view. The wavy terrain consists of an ancient sea floor of stratified sands of spectacular morphology and very rich of fossil finds. The area is interested by karst phenomena: erosion chasms, caverns, galleries and sinkholes, rock arches and natural bridges, waterfalls and the characteristic coronelle (circular layered rock formations emerging from the grassy terrain). The territory is crossed by deep valleys with green beeches and firs. Wide pasture surfaces and hundreds of huts are populated by herds of cattle during the summer time.
There are many paths and ways which can be traversed on foot, on horseback, by mountain bike, through meadows and woods, with an overlook on the plain of the Po River and the areas of the Lake Garda. In winter slopes and ski routes host cross-country and downhill skiers. The Holiday Home Ex Groberio run by Turiscoop Lessinia is part of this sweet and relaxing landscape.
